Chicken kofta is the famous and delicious food item in Pakistan. Which liked by people of every age. Now you can this recipe in your home and enjoy with your loving ones.
Ingredients:
For the Koftas:
- 500g ground chicken
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch piece ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 egg
- 2-3 tbsp bread crumbs
For the Gravy:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch piece ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, slit (optional)
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup fresh cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
For the Koftas:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chili, coriander leaves, mint leaves, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add the egg and bread crumbs to the mixture and mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into small balls or oval-shaped koftas.
- Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the koftas until they are golden brown on all sides. You can also bake them in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through.
For the Gravy:
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and green chili and sauté for another minute.
- Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook for a few seconds until fragrant.
- Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Lower the heat and add the yogurt, stirring continuously to prevent curdling. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the fresh cream and salt, and mix well.
- Gently add the fried or baked koftas to the gravy and simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve the Chicken Koftas with naan, roti, or steamed rice. Enjoy your meal!
